Clinical Epidemiology and Case Fatality Due to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Germany
SUMMARY
Germany's surveillance strategy for monitoring the spread of AMR depends on voluntary sharing of data from clinical labs around the country. The system previously held little to no data about AMR-related fatalities, making it difficult to assess national antimicrobial stewardship efforts. For the first time, researchers from across academia and public health worked together to collect these missing pieces of data and help present a fuller picture of the state of AMR in Germany.
