Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in the Fight Against Infectious Diseases

SUMMARY

Addressing the challenges posed by pathogen outbreaks, pandemics, and antimicrobial resistance will require concerted interdisciplinary efforts. New research shows that artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) could be used to help control infectious disease outbreaks and pandemics by advancing drug discovery, enhancing understanding of infection biology, and accelerating the development of diagnostics, according to a review in Science.
