Impact of Process Improvement and Design of a Laboratory Around Blood Cultures Process

In 2022, the CHU Mohammed VI in Marrakech, as part of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Centers of Excellence initiative, conducted a laboratory performance assessment focused on their microbiology laboratory. The primary goal was to enhance the efficiency of blood culture processes by reducing sample management time and improving turnaround time (TAT) and workflow. Operating 24/7 with a team of nine technicians, the assessment led to recommendations for optimizing TAT through improvements in Process, People, and Technology.
