Understand the essentials in 2 minutes: the ultimate investigation into the heart of the microbiome
Among the solutions offered by bioMérieux's disruptive Augmented Diagnostics approach, manufacturers can now count on the exploration of the microbiome, this investigative protocol has been imagined by experts based on metagenomics. The aim is to know and understand micro-organisms beyond the limits of traditional microbiology, in order to understand their impact and the problems they cause in food products.
It is not uncommon for manufacturers to recall batches. It's in this context and thanks to the collaboration of some of them that bioMérieux's experts have designed and developed a detailed exploration of the microbiome. By 2024, this solution will be available to all manufacturers wishing to prevent a contaminant from escaping their grasp due to inadequate detection resulting from traditional laboratory practices and techniques. In recent years, knowledge and technology have taken a quantum leap with metagenomics, a methodological process that studies the microbiome, i.e. all the microorganisms of all types living in a specific environment.
This cutting-edge expertise combines technique and skill, enabling to spot and identify the many micro-organisms that have slipped through the cracks of yesterday's detection methods. Some of them cannot be cultivated using conventional microbiology methods. To find these contaminating micro-organisms, the real troublemakers in food products, bioMérieux's experts will work in parallel on so-called healthy and contaminated products. The aim is to establish a complete DNA profile for each product, so they can be compared with each other and with public databases. It's a real investigation through millions of letters to pinpoint the problem, as constraints accumulate according to the plant's environment, organization and employees. A complete mapping will be carried out to tighten the grip on micro-organisms, and find, for example, here and there on the trays of this or that production line, traces of this or that contaminant... Contaminants that may not be toxic, but simply degrade the product.
To be effective, the "Microbiome discovery" solution of bioMérieux requires collaboration and trust between bioMérieux and industry experts. It should be noted that this approach also meets a strong demand for rinse water and its reuse.
