In February 2022, the Infection Management Coalition (IMC) launched their first white paper calling for a transformational change in the way healthcare systems and broader society are addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The IMC expresses an urgent need to adopt a whole system approach to the way infections are detected, monitored, prevented, and managed across the healthcare landscape. Learnings from the COVID-19 pandemic highlight the importance of infection prevention and control measures in tackling AMR in both healthcare-associated and community-associated infections.
