Infectious Diseases
Our R&D draws on more than a century of expertise in the fight against infectious diseases, an area in which in vitro diagnostics have become increasingly important.
Physicians rely on the identification of an infectious agent to determine the appropriate treatment for each patient. Monitoring chronic infections requires highly sensitive diagnostic methods that can provide the necessary quantitative information to adjust therapy (for example, viral load monitoring for patients living with HIV).
Diagnostics are also essential to detect and monitor the course of healthcare-associated infections and emerging diseases so that if a pandemic should occur, it can be quickly stopped.
bioMérieux has made a priority of focusing on infectious diseases that represent major public health challenges.
