You're not blind anymore: The new era for cleaning & sanitation - From EDQC 2024

The conference in few words

Magali Le Diodic presented an engaging and insightful session on the essential role of cleaning and sanitation in ensuring food safety and quality. She underscored the importance of an insightful diagnostic to better drive corrective as well as prevention actions in Operations.

Key Themes:

  1. Importance of Cleaning & Sanitation:

    • Cleaning and sanitation are critical components in maintaining food safety and preventing contamination in production facilities.
    • They directly influence product quality and consumer trust.
  2. Real Case Studies:

    • Powder Milk Plant: The talk explored expectations and challenges in maintaining hygiene standards in a powder milk production facility, showcasing best practices.
    • Listeria in Cheese Factory: A detailed case study highlighted the identification and management of Listeria contamination, emphasizing the critical role of cleaning in mitigating risks.
  3. Root Cause Analysis (RCA):

    • She shared an effective approach to root cause analysis, demonstrating how to identify underlying issues in sanitation processes and implement corrective actions.
    • This proactive methodology strengthens preventive measures and enhances food safety management.

Magali Le Diodic’s presentation illustrated how robust cleaning and sanitation protocols, paired with thorough root cause analysis, are vital to achieving excellence in food safety and quality assurance.

The Speaker

Magali Le Diodic - Food Safety & Dry Cleaning Market Manager

Magali Le Diodic graduated from Quality, Health, Safety & Environment, and began her career in the development of hygien solutions adapted to poultry and then, for food industries.

Previously Expert in the management of Airborne Disinfection tools, after she has specialized in the control of aerobiocontamination, in all type of food industries. After 15 years of experience in Health Safety, now she supports factories in the development of key missions, such as the implementation of new solutions like Dry Cleaning and water savings.

One of its main missions today is to train and support the French Technical Team and Key Accounts in order to strenghten Food Safety among customers.

For this, she is daily involved in the resolution of pratical cases of microbiological deviations and trouble shooting.

What to remember?

  • Ask the right questions: What are we facing? Persistance of non-conformed environmental samplings? A contaminated product ?
A deviation? An exceeded limit? Random? What do these results imply for the end product ? Is there a risk for the consumer?
  • Investigate the site context - 1. The aim is always to find a sustainable resolution ⇨ identify maximal the root cause
(Tools = 5 whys, 5W and 1H, Ishikawa,… ). Never be complacent (always stay vigilant)
  • Get on the right track: go further and cross-check the data!

  • Toward understanding the trouble. Confirmation of 1st tracks
  • Treatment toward a resolution of the trouble shooting.
  • Continuous improvement for a suitable resolution.
