Marcy l'Etoile, France - December 19, 2006. bioMérieux announced today the appointment of Stéphane Bancel as Directeur Général délégué (Chief Executive Officer). His new position will become effective January 1, 2007. The Board of Directors, that was held on December 15, 2006 has approved his nomination.

Stéphane Bancel worked from 1995 – 1998 at bioMérieux in Japan, where he was in charge of the industrial microbiology business for the Asia-Pacific region. Since then, he has worked in the United States, Great Britain and Belgium for Eli Lilly where he has been Managing Director since 2004. Stéphane Bancel is a graduate of the Ecole Centrale Paris engineering school. He holds a Masters of Science in biochemical engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
